The Characterisation of Ariel stars

Building an homogeneous Catalogue of stellar parameters

Picture

I am the Scientific Coordinator of the Stellar Characterisation WG of the Ariel Consortium. The goal the WG is to characterise the stars in the Ariel Mission Candidate sample in a homogeneous and self-coherent manner, for establishing a robust and bias-free reference frame on which to build our knowledge on exo-atmospheres and the formation processes of planets.

The WG is composed by various sub-WG dedicated to determine specific sets of parameters:

  • ATMOSPHERIC PARAMETERS - Coordinated by L. Magrini (INAF-OAA)
  • ELEMENTAL ABUNDANCES - Coordinated by E. Delgado-Mena (IA - U.Porto)
  • AGE, MASS, RADIUS - Coordinated by T. Campante (IA - U.Porto)
  • ACTIVITY INDEXES - Coordinated by S. Benatti (INAF - OAPA)
  • OBSERVATIONS - Coordinated by M. Rainer (INAF - OA Brera) and by Krzysztof Hełminiak (Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center)

Papers produced by our WG:

  • Magrini et al., 2022: The first release homogeneous atmospheric parameters for 187 FGK stars.)
  • Brucalassi et al., 2022: Benchmarking of three methods for the characterisation of stellar atmospheric parameters
  • Danielski et al., 2022: presentation of the homogeneous method that we developed for the homogeneous and self-coherent characterisation of stellar hosts.
